Fly Fair 2020 is cancelled
Fly Fair 2020, which would be held around the fishing ponds De Berenkuil in Putten on May 9th and 10th, has been cancelled. Based on the measures regarding the Corona virus taken by the Dutch and foreign governments, the boards of the Fly Fair foundation and the Dutch Fly Fishing Association have decided that Fly Fair 2020 cannot take place. The organization places the importance of the health of all participants, employees and visitors above everything else.
The organization thanks everyone for their great efforts so far. The intention is to postpone the Fly Fair for a year, provided the circumstances allow it. We hope to be able to meet in full health by then.

I was born 1958 in Wuppertal and growing up in Düsseldorf. Since 1998 I live in Hilden (next to Düsseldorf).
I´m a fisherman since my childhood, but I started flyfishing and tying at the age of 38.
Around two years later I was tying on my first big flyfishing show, the Dutch Fly Fair.
Since this time, I´m tying my flies on shows in Europe and USA.
My favorite patterns are squidflies and shrimps.
Thé Ørgänizátiøn has been very busy for quite a while with the organization of the next Fly Fair which is planned for Saturday May 9 and Sunday May 10, 2020. Many of you, both visitors and participants, will still have fond memories of the Fly Fair 2018 and together with you we want to make the Fly Fair 2020 a great or even greater success again.
Never change a winning team. The general set up of the Fly Fair event will be mostly unchanged. For the venue we have opted for "Forelvisvijvers de Berenkuil", Berencamperweg 11, in Putten the Netherlands. This beautiful venue can be reached easily by car (A28 motorway exit 9).
At the Fly Fair every flyfisher will find whatever his life style requires. Fly casting and fly dressing material, for every kind of fish be it alver or salmon, and all the hooks and clothes one may dream of from size 36 upwards. There will be plenty of opportunities to be informed about the available industrial and technological fly fishing gadgets and to admire the amazing craftsmanship of the semi-professional fly tiers specially invited to show their handiwork.
And if you are bored with your current holiday destinations, you will be able to explore new possibilities ranging from Putten to Patagonia. Hence our motto: The World of Flyfishing.
A lot of attention is paid to the Fly Fair 2020 in our magazine "de Nederlandse Vliegvisser". This magazine is sent to more than 4,000 members and is recognized as one of the most outstanding flyfishing magazines in Europe. And as a special offer, participating firms will be offered free advertising space in the spring edition. In addition, booth keepers will be put in the spotlight in various digital means of communication such De Digitale Vliegvisser, newsletters, websites and Facebook pages.
We are pleased to invite you to participate in the Fly Fair 2020 en we hope to realize a big event for and by flyfishers. The fair will consist of a complete village of pagodas (25 m2 each) and a large light canvas hall for the fly tiers. Even if the terrain is extensive, we have to warn you in advance that the number of pagodas will be limited. In case you wish to participate, please contact Jan Huisman: huisman.jan@ziggo.nl He will send you an information package, including a reservation form.
The Dutch Fly Fair of 2018 was a big success. We're already preparing the next edition. Of course this event can’t be held without fly tiers! Like last year we hope to meet a lot of them.
On behalf of the organization I’ll be coordinating the fly tying part. Main goal is to organize an amazing event that will be interesting for fly tiers and visitors. If you have any suggestions or questions don’t hesitate to contact me by phone or e-mail: jos@homus.nl.
